The nice warmer weather everyone had been waiting for is here but along with it comes the one thing that frustrates drivers everywhere: road construction.
The City of Bucyrus has announced that South Sandusky Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Beal Avenue to Southern Avenue today, April 23, 2014 for sewer work.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has reported that State Route 61, just north of State Route 309 in Galion, will also be closed beginning today for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 61 to SR 309, west on SR 309 to State Route 598, north on SR 598 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to SR 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on May 14, 2014.
State Route 97, from the City of Galion to the Morrow County line, will be restricted to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. That project began on April 21 and is expected to be complete on July 31, 2014.
State Route 61/State Route 309, just south of Monnett-New Winchester Rd. in Polk Township remains closed for railroad crossing repair work. The road is expected to reopen on May 2, 2014.
UPDATED 04/23/14: The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that State Route 61, just north of State Route 309 in the City of Galion, which was originally expected to close today, April 23 for a bridge replacement project, has been postponed until further notice.
