The American Red Cross is hosting a ladies night out showcasing the Power of the Purse. The annual Red Cross Power of the Purse event will be held on Friday, May 8, at Dillinger’s Event Center, 144 Washington Square in Bucyrus. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. Power of the Purse is an elegant evening of wine, food and fun featuring a live auction of designer purses. Will Beard, morning host on Q92.7 FM will be the host of the event.
Power of the Purse features a catered dinner, specialty desserts, entertainment and a custom wine glass keepsake for all guests. There will be a silent auction of purses and other donated items including spa treatments, dinners at local restaurants, gift certificates and other items. A live auction of designer purses will begin at 6:15pm. Local first responders will be supporting the event by working during the evening as parking attendants and servers. Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser will provide opening remarks for the event.
Tickets for Power of the Purse are $50 each, and tables of eight can be reserved for $350. To reserve tickets and tables, visit redcross.org/Bucyrus. Tickets can be purchased at State Farm Insurance, 564 S. Sandusky St. in Bucyrus and will be available at the door.
A Mini Power of the Purse and purse drop-off will be held on Saturday, March 7 at the Bucyrus Moose Lodge, 216 E. Mansfield St. From 1 to 4 p.m., local vendors will be offering jewelry, essential oils, nail care products, Mary Kay products, 31 purses and other fitness products. The public is invited to shop the vendors and drop off new and gently used purses that will be auctioned during the Power of the Purse event in May.
Crawford County Red Cross Advisory Board members Vanessa Shutler and Brenda Crider are servings as Co-Chairs of the event. Planning committee members include Lisa Miller, Judy Lust, Linda Cooperider, Marcia Smith, Sheri James, Sandy Stone, Sharon Ard, Dorene Cole, Tabbatha Clicks-Keller, Nina Assenheimer and Irene Roski.
Power of the Purse is an annual fundraiser for the Red Cross in Crawford County. All proceeds will support Red Cross services; disaster relief, community preparedness education, teaching CPR, first aid and other life-saving training, providing emergency assistance to service members and local military families, and collecting life-saving blood for area hospitals.
