BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Cornerstone of Hope and the Mid-Ohio Traumatic Loss Response Team are offering Crawford County residents a special opportunity to preserve the memory of departed loved ones through an upcoming Memory Bear Event on Oct. 29.
Hosted at the Crawford Success Center from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the interactive memorial event allows participants to transform clothing, blankets, or meaningful fabric belonging to a loved one into a keepsake teddy bear. Volunteer seamstresses prepare the fabric ahead of time, enabling attendees to stuff their bears, enclose handwritten notes to their loved ones inside, and complete the final stitching during the workshop.
“Cornerstone of Hope is an umbrella for comprehensive services,” said Kim Turner of Cornerstone of Hope, noting that the agency provides individual counseling, support groups, and youth grief camps across central Ohio.
To allow time for volunteer seamstresses to construct the bear shells, pre-registration and material submission are required by Sept. 28. Interested participants can register online by visiting cornerstoneofhope.org/MOTLRT under the events tab or by scanning the registration QR code featured on the Crawford County Now community calendar.
In addition to special events, Cornerstone of Hope hosts two monthly grief support groups in Crawford County: a Survivors of Suicide Loss Group on the second Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Crawford Success Center in Bucyrus, and a support meeting on the second Saturday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Wesley Chapel in Galion.
