Pioneer Career and Technology Center Board of Education has selected Greg Nickoli as the new superintendent to lead the Pioneer District. Nickoli is currently the Director of Operations for Pioneer. He will assume his new position on Jan. 1 and replaces Glenna Cannon who is retiring from Pioneer after 28 years, the last nine serving as Superintendent.

Greg NickoliNickoli is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, as well as a graduate of Ashland University with a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instructions and an Administrative license. He began his career as an Intervention Specialist at Mansfield City Schools. He also worked as a teacher and football coach at Edon Northwest Local Schools and Galion City Schools before returning to Mansfield City Schools. He transitioned from teaching to administration in 2003 while still at Mansfield City Schools.

He joined Pioneer in 2006 as the Assistant Director for the High School and became the Director of Operations in 2009.

Nickoli is prepared to take on the challenges of superintendent; he says, “Accepting the Superintendency at Pioneer Career and Technology Center is an opportunity for me to continue to maintain Pioneer’s status as one of the top Career – Technical Centers in Ohio.”

During Nickoli’s six years as Director of Operations Pioneer has added programs and increased enrollment. The school now annually serves over 1,000 high school students at their Shelby campus with additional offerings of 24 satellite programs in surrounding districts and the North Central State College – Kehoe Center. Pioneer also serves area businesses and industry by offering Adult Education Training. He says, “My goal is to continue the efforts to raise the academic and career-technical standards at Pioneer to better prepare our students for competition in a global economy.”

To continue the tradition of excellence, Nickoli will focus on, continuing community awareness; pursuing further connections with business and industry; fostering leadership and teamwork among staff and students; developing a curriculum that prepares students to become future leaders of our communities; and continuing the implementation of state-of-the-art technology in the career-technical programs and academic classrooms at Pioneer.

Nickoli appreciates the confidence shown by the Pioneer Board of Education and looks forward to many years of committed service to Pioneer, the Board of Education, and the community.
