SANDUSKY COUNTY—The Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a traffic crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at the intersection of Hayes Avenue and Brush Street in Sandusky Township.  The crash occurred today, September 20, 2023, at approximately 9:36 pm.

A 2019 black Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Andrew Myers, age 59, of Fremont was eastbound on Hayes Avenue.  Ryan M. Crispen, age 32, was westbound on Hayes Avenue on a skateboard.  Mr. Myers attempted to turn left and travel north on Brush Street when he struck Mr. Crispen.

Mr. Myers was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured.  Mr. Crispen was not wearing any protective equipment and sustained serious injuries.  He was flown to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.  The crash remains under investigation at this time.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Sandusky County EMS, and Bubba’s Towing.
