GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The congregation of Peace Lutheran Church has transferred ownership of their property to the Galion Port Authority after 174 years, with hopes of seeing the site redeveloped and preserved as a community asset.
The property, approximately 10,000 square feet, includes a former sanctuary with 250 seats, a fellowship hall with a kitchen, and a classroom building. It is considered ideal for redevelopment as a multi-use event venue.
The Galion Port Authority, created by the City of Galion, aims to promote economic development using the tools provided by the Ohio Revised Code. The Port Authority’s role includes enhancing, fostering, aiding, providing, or promoting transportation, economic development, housing, recreation, governmental operations, culture, or research. They have the ability to buy, sell, or hold real estate and provide financing tools for economic development.
Currently, the Galion Port Authority is also promoting housing development at the Renschville School site, with construction on the second and third lots expected to begin shortly.
Persons interested in the Peace Lutheran Church site should contact Mark Rantala, Executive Director, at (419) 759-0747.
