BUCYRUS — Bucyrus Police are actively searching for a Richland County man in connection with the physical assault of a 75-year-old Bucyrus woman.

According to Bucyrus Police Chief David Koepke, officers want to apprehend Christopher Barber, 24, last known to live in the Mansfield area.

“Richland County is assisting us and may have a lead on his whereabouts,” Koepke said. “If he is not in custody by Tuesday, we will be issuing a photo of him and a most wanted notice to the public.”

The incident occurred last week at the elderly woman’s residence in the 100 block of Dudley Street. The woman has been hospitalized since the incident occurred but was conscious when officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene.

Koepke said the woman was beaten with a metal waste management tool used to clean up after dogs.

He said two other people have been arrested in connection with the incident and are being held for investigation, which include the woman’s daughter, Stacey Hare, and son-in-law, Richard Hare.

“They are being held on falsification charges and for investigation of this crime,” Koepke said.
