The Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash on Wyandot Road near Mount Zion Road that occurred around noon on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the patrol, a 1997 Chevy Blazer, driven by Stephanie M. Loveless, 33, Bloomville, was traveling southwest on Wyandot Road when she went left-of-center and off the left side of the roadway into a ditch. She then overcorrected the vehicle back onto the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturn several times before coming to rest on its roof in the middle of the roadway.
Occupying the front passenger seat of the vehicle was Robert C. Barringer Jr., 51, also of Bloomville. Neither Barringer nor Loveless were wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle upon impact.
Barringer was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Crawford County Coroner. Loveless sustained serious injuries and was taken by Life Support Team EMS to the Bucyrus Community Hospital and later air-lifted by Med-Flight to Grant Hospital in Columbus.
The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol was not determined to be a factor in the traffic crash.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Bucyrus Township Fire/EMS.
