Many may pass by flag poles today and ask themselves, or others, why the nation’s flag is being flown at only half-staff. Those who were alive 14 years ago on this date will never forget why.
Commemorating the acts of bravery, selflessness and sacrifice of first responders and others on Sept. 11, 2001, the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 is celebrated as Patriot Day.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich has ordered that all flags be flown at half-staff today from sunrise to sunset and that a moment of silence be observed at 8:46 this morning, the time at which an American Airlines jet was flown by terrorists into the World Trade Center. There will be a Day of Remembrance at the Ohio Statehouse this morning.
Locally, the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office and Crawford: 20/20 Vision Public Safety and Drug Abuse Action Team will have banners at all area home high school football games this evening which fans may sign expressing their appreciation for the efforts of the local fire and law enforcement departments.
