ASHLAND, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)— Stacy Lee Simmons, the wife of Pastor Mike Simmons from New Beginnings Crossroads Fellowship Church in West Salem, has been indicted on three felony counts in Ashland County.

According to court records, the Ashland County grand jury returned a three-count indictment against Simmons, charging her with the following:

– Count 1: Grand Theft (fourth-degree felony) — Simmons is accused of unlawfully obtaining or controlling $20,893.77 between October 4, 2019, and December 14, 2023, without the consent of the alleged victim, whose identity has been redacted. The indictment specifies that the value of the theft falls between $7,500 and $150,000.

– Count 2: Telecommunications Fraud (third-degree felony) — This charge alleges that Simmons engaged in a scheme to defraud during the same timeframe, utilizing telecommunications to facilitate the fraud, with the benefit/value again listed between $7,500 and $150,000.

– Count 3: Forgery (fourth-degree felony) — The indictment states that on or about April 22, 2024, Simmons forged a document described as a “Verification Of Receipt Of Fund By Minor” without proper authority, again with a value/loss between $7,500 and $150,000.

Simmons was arrested on December 12, 2025, and booked into the Ashland County Jail.

During an arraignment hearing conducted via video, defense attorney Norman Miller indicated that Simmons had received a copy of the indictment and waived any defects in time or manner of service. Simmons entered a not guilty plea, which the court accepted.

The state requested a cash bond of $22,000, citing the alleged theft amount and the importance of ensuring Simmons’ appearance in court. However, defense counsel advocated for a recognizance bond, noting Simmons’s long-term residency in Ashland County, lack of criminal history, local employment, and awareness of the allegations without attempting to flee.

The court ultimately established a two-part bond structure, consisting of a personal recognizance bond and a $10,000 posted bond with a 10% option.

Simmons is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim during the proceedings. As with all criminal cases.
