BUCYRUS — Paige Hickman of Bucyrus had her prison sentence reimposed after pleading guilty to violating the terms and conditions of her community control.

Hickman, 23, was originally sentenced to five years of community control in March after she pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

In May, Hickman violated the terms and conditions of her community control and was sent to prison, then was granted a judicial release in June. According to her probation officer, Chris Heydinger, Hickman tested positive for meth on August 28 and admitted using it.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold told Hickman he got no pleasure in sending her back to prison.

“I had hoped that the ISAT program would work for you and things would be different,” Leuthold said. “I encourage you to take advantage of the programs offered in prison. If the prison requests it, I will not oppose transitional control.”

In other court action, Michael Ponziani, 25, of Bucyrus was arraigned on one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison. Leuthold commented on Ponziani’s appearance.

“You don’t look like you used to, you don’t look good. You look like someone who shows the signs of drug use,” Leuthold said.

Leuthold appointed attorney Tom Nicholson to represent Ponziani and set his bond at #25,000. Leuthold warned Ponziani to walk a straight line if he makes bail.

“No screw-ups on bail. If you do, I’ll put you back in jail where you will stay until this is concluded,” Leuthold said.

Darel Owens, 53, of Galion was indicted on one count of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison and one count of public indecency, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison. The alleged victim is 11 years old and a relative of the defendant.

According to the indictment, Owens was intoxicated at the home of the victim’s grandmother. Owens exposed himself to the victim and groped the victim. Leuthold set Owen’s bond at $250,000 and appointed attorney Geoff Stoll to represent him.

Tyler Wireman, 23, of Galion pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison and one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison. Wireman was represented by attorney Joel Spitzer.

In a plea deal, Wireman was sentenced to 12 months in prison on each count for a total of 24 months in prison.
