Bob Scott Placier will once again band saw-whet owls this year at Lowe-Volk Park. This year’s capture, banding and release will be Friday and begins at 6:30 p.m.

The project’s goal is to gain insight into saw-whet owls in Crawford County. Placier has been involved in a similar project near Chillicothe since 2003 which is part of a national operation called Owlnet.

Friday’s program will begin with a presentation inside and then move outside where there will be an attempt to call in owls with a recording. The saw-whet is Ohio’s smallest owl.
