GALION — Galion City Schools will host fall parent-teacher conferences Oct. 30 and Nov. 1. There will be no classes for students Nov. 1 and Nov. 2.

Galion Middle School will have a slightly different format this year for students and families in grades 6 through 8. GMS will have open times for the parents to come meet with the teachers during the times outlined below.

All middle school teachers will be available in the gym for a quick meeting with the student’s teachers, and if there is an extended concern, families can set up a formal meeting at that time.

Conferences for students in grades 9 through 12 will be scheduled every 15 minutes and parents aren’t required to come, but their presence is highly encouraged. The Middle School and High School will follow the conference schedule below:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 30

3:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Parent-Teacher Conferences

  • Thursday, Nov. 1

12:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Parent-Teacher Conferences

The Primary School and Intermediate School will follow the conference schedule below. Meetings will run every 15 to 20 minutes. Teachers will share the progress of the students, things they’ve been doing in the classroom as well as tips on how to support the student at home. Parents are encouraged to bring questions they may have regarding their child’s education.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 30

4:00 – 8:00 p.m. – Parent-Teacher Conferences

  • Thursday, Nov. 1

12:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Parent-Teacher Conferences

“Conferences are a fantastic opportunity for families to communicate with the teacher about their child’s progress,” Superintendent James Grubbs said, “as well as what can be done at home to help their child achieve success in the classroom.”

Primary and Intermediate School parents wishing to participate are required to set up meeting times with their child’s teachers. A confirmation letter was sent home with students.

Those with questions should call the Primary School office at (419) 468-4010 or the Intermediate School office at (419) 468-3676. High School parents interested in scheduling a meeting can do so by calling the high school office at (419) 468-6500 ext. 12008.
