BUCYRUS—Gary Painter, 50, of Galion, was arraigned Wednesday in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court on 15 counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor or an impaired person. Each charge is a second-degree felony punishable with up to eight years in prison.

Painter has been free on a $500,000 bond since he was charged.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold doubled Painter’s bond to $1,000,000.00.

According to allegations, more than one thousand images in Painter’s possession involve children nine years old and younger. Due to the graphic nature of the images, Crawford County Now will withhold the descriptions presented.

If Painter makes bond, he must be monitored by real-time GPS, have no contact with juveniles, and may not leave Crawford County.

Painter has retained Mansfield attorney Benjamin Kitzler to represent him.

Crawford County Now will continue to follow this developing story.
