BUCYRUS — A former Ohio State University football player and nationally-known speaker is set to speak at the Bucyrus men’s breakfast.
Joel Penton, executive director of “Stand for Truth,” will be the guest speaker for the next men’s community breakfast. The breakfast will take place at the Bucyrus Community Hospital cafeteria on Wednesday, June 12 at 7 a.m.
Joel is a graduate of The Ohio State University and played five years of football for the Buckeyes. He was a member of three Big Ten Championship teams at Ohio State, a member of the 2003 National Championship team, and a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
In his senior year, Joel received the prestigious Wuerffel Trophy, also known as the “Humanitarian Heisman.” The trophy is a national award that recognizes the one college football player in the entire country who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
After graduating from Ohio State, Joel turned down an opportunity to play in the NFL to begin a career in full-time speaking.
