GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Galion History Center has been the summer home for Micah Harris, an Eastern History student from Ohio State University-Marion. Harris, who has a keen interest in World War II, has spent his internship exploring the GHC’s WWII collection and assisting GHC Curator, Keily Cunningham, with archiving.
Harris is set to present his summer project, an exhibit titled “German War Trophies: Confiscated and Looted”, at the Galion History Museum. The exhibit, which opens to the public in late July, delves into the subject of war trophies within the context of WWII. It showcases Nazi war trophies, including flags, banners, pins, badges, textiles, and weapons, brought home by Crawford County WWII Veterans Francis Frye and Robert Christman.
The presentation will take place on Tuesday, July 23 at 4:00 pm at the Historic Grace Church, located at 130 W. Walnut St., Galion. Following the presentation, the Galion History Museum, located in the Brownella Cottage Carriage House, will open its doors to unveil the new exhibit to the public for the first time.
The Galion History Center extends its gratitude to the families of Francis Frye and Robert Christman for loaning items to this exhibit. The presentation and exhibit unveiling on July 23 is free and open to the public.
