Bucyrus — Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Mark H. McLaughlin has been selected as the 2018 Bucyrus Post Trooper of the Year.

The selection of Trooper McLaughlin, 42, is in recognition of his outstanding service during 2018 at the Bucyrus Post.

Fellow troopers stationed at the Bucyrus Post chose Trooper McLaughlin based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous, treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public.

Trooper McLaughlin joined the Highway Patrol in 2001 and has served at the Bucyrus and Milan Highway Patrol Posts.

Trooper McLaughlin is a lifelong resident of Bucyrus and a graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. Prior to becoming a state trooper, he also served in the United Stated Marine Corps. Other

Highway Patrol awards received in the past include: Health and Physical Fitness Award and Safe Driving Award.

Trooper Mclaughlin. his wife Kristen and their two children reside in Bucyrus.
