LIMA—On May 11, 2022, the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) approved a grant in the amount of $400,000 to P&G Manufacturing Company to expand its Bath Township, Ohio (near Lima) manufacturing facility.  P&G plans to invest more than $500 million at the location and will hire 135 new employees after completion of the project.  A current rail customer of the Chicago, Ft. Wayne & Eastern Railroad (CFE), P&G needs the additional on-site rail infrastructure to serve the new facility.

P&G is an American multinational consumer goods corporation headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, and founded in 1837 by William Procter and James Gamble. The company specializes in a wide range of personal health/consumer health, and personal care and hygiene products. These products are organized into several segments including beauty; grooming; health care; fabric & home care; and baby, feminine, and family care.

P&G has plans to expand its footprint in Bath Township as a result of continued increasing demand for P&G’s laundry product line.  Currently, the location is one of P&G’s largest manufacturing plants in the US, dedicated to the production of fabric care detergents including liquid fabric enhancers, perfume products like shampoo, soaps and diapers.  Customers include grocery stores, e-commerce, and merchandisers.  The more than $500 million expansion will install a new product line while also expanding P&G’s existing manufacturing and warehousing spaces.

Matthew Dietrich, Executive Director of the ORDC, said, “we are proud to join JobsOhio and the Allen Economic Development Group in supporting P&G in this effort.  This project will help to retain hundreds of current jobs at the facility as well as create new positions as a result.  For more than 100 years this company has had a positive economic impact to the region, and we are happy P&G calls Ohio “home.””

“P&G is excited to explore the potential expansion of our operations Lima, in order to better meet demand for our products and serve our consumers.  We are grateful to the Lima community, a place we have called home since 1968, for their continued support, and we look forward to many years of partnership and growth.  Our partnership with Allen Economic Development Group and the ORDC have been instrumental in providing a project proposal that best meets the needs of the community and P&G,” said John Shaver, Lima Plant Manager, P&G.
