The competition for a FedEx Distribution Center kind of turned out like a leaner in horseshoes: close enough to score, but not the hoped-for ringer.

It has been announced that FedEx has selected the Ontario Industrial Park over several competing sites including some in Crawford County for its new distribution center and the 150 jobs that go with it. Ontario Growth Corporation Director Mark Weidemyre said the company cited several reasons for choosing Ontario including the community’s schools and close access to U.S. Rt. 30 and I-71.

In addition to the FedEx jobs which will pay $18 to $20 per hour, Fed Ex indicated it would use local contractors to build the 165,000 square foot distribution center and it is expected another company which does repair work on FedEx trucks will also locate at the Ontario Industrial Park and create approximately another 20 jobs.
