BUCYRUS — One man was injured after a crash involving car and dump truck late Tuesday morning in rural Bucyrus.
Shortly before 11 a.m., a 34-year-old Bucyrus man was traveling eastbound on Shafer Road when he stopped his Toyota Solara at the intersection with Bethel Road. The man then drove into the intersection in front of a loaded dump truck was traveling southbound on Bethel Road, according to the 43-year-old Galion man driving the dump truck and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office deputies on scene who spoke with another witness to the incident.
The truck struck the car’s driver’s side, sending it into a nearby field. The dump truck traveled into the field as well, remaining upright.

The driver of the car was removed from the vehicle with a JAWS unit and transported to Bucyrus Community Hospital with complaints of a back injury, according to personnel on scene. He was conscious when emergency squads arrived on scene.
The dump truck driver and his 8-year-old son, who also was in the vehicle, were not injured in the crash.
The Holmes Township Volunteer Fire Department, Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Serivce, Lohr’s Towing and Knecht’s Auto Recycling also responded to the scene.
