A crash that occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 in Perry Township left one man dead and another injured.

According to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Gerald Burdine, 51, of Lexington was driving a Chevy Silverado south on Ohio 314 when his pick-up truck went left of center, entered the northbound lane and struck a Peterbilt semi-truck, driven by Ronald Schroeder, 62, of Crestline.

Burdine was pronounced dead at the scene while Schroeder was treated and released at the scene of the crash.

Troopers said Burdine was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
