The Bucyrus Secondary School will serve as the host site for the 67th session of The Supreme Court of Ohio Off-Site Court program Oct. 23. This is the first time the program has been hosted in Crawford County and only the second time it has been hosted by a school district.
“This is such an honor for the Secondary School and our district,” Principal Dr. Mark Burke said. “We are very excited that The Supreme Court of Ohio, and the Crawford County Bar Association, have selected our school as the host site for this program.”
Students from all seven Crawford County high schools will be participating in this program. On the morning of Oct. 23, students will have the opportunity to hear directly from the justices of the Supreme Court of Ohio, which will be followed by the students observing oral arguments of a case being heard by the justices.
“Our students will be briefed by Attorney Adam Stone on the case they will observe,” Burke said. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students, staff and district to host this event.”
This momentous opportunity was made possible through the work of the Crawford County Bar Association, Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Russell Wiseman and Bar Association President Mr. Jay Wagner.
“I want to personally thank Judge Wiseman, Attorney Wagner and the Crawford County Bar Association for this tremendous opportunity,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “I am extremely proud of the work our administrators and staff have done to make this a great event for our students and district.”
