The performers in Ohio Idol’s inaugural season took their final bows Tuesday evening at the Crawford County Fair.
Last year, the inaugural season of Ohio Idol took place, naming the top ten performers out of thousands who competed across the state. Over the last year, these finalists have been touring and showing off their impressive pipes in multiple different Ohio venues.
That tour came made its finale on Tuesday night at the Crawford County Fair. Although the winner, Abby Boland, couldn’t perform at the show due to singing commitments in New York, the remaining nine finalists took the stage for a show that spanned genres and entertained all who made it out to the grandstands for the eight o’clock show.
The performers, Hawk Battle, Blake Soles, Jordan Clark, Nancy Wilson, Ashley Everts, Condria Webber, Alina Joy Smith, Ann Grossman, who, at 50, was the oldest contestant of the first season, and Hannah Johnson, 13, who was the youngest Ohio Idol finalist to date.
The show consisted of numerous solos and duets that included everything from Bon Jovi, Etta James, Adele, Beyonce, Prince, Carey Underwood, and Patsy Cline. There was also a mash up of American themed songs, as well as a number of original pieces written by the artists themselves. There was something for everyone in the crowd.
When it was all said and done, the night ended with a lot of emotions for the performers. After a long and wonderful tour together, the experience was coming to a close. According to Hannah, who hails from Gahannah, the tour was amazing. “We all became a family; it’s bittersweet.”
The second season of Ohio Idol is currently in progress. The winners will be announced at the Ohio State Fair. The award for first place is $10,000 and a record deal. Anyone can sign up to audition, just visit www.ohio-idol.com.
