The Ohio Department of Education released their newly formatted report cards for each school district in the state Thursday, and in Crawford County many of the schools received B’s and C’s.

The revamped grading system rates the school districts and buildings across eighteen new performance categories; replacing the six-tier assessment system which ranked school districts with labels, with a new grading system that is much like the typical A-F grading scale found on students’ report cards.

Four of the county’s six schools received an A on their report card with Buckeye Central receiving A’s in Indicators Met and Expected Graduation Rate in 4 years (93%). Colonel Crawford received A’s in Overall Progress, as well as expected Graduation Rate in 4 years (97.1%). Galion City Schools received a single A in Overall Progress, which maps the progress that students are making in Reading and Math between grades 4-8. Crestline received an A for its progress in the Lowest 20% in Achievement in the Progress category.

Only Buckeye Central (C) and Colonel Crawford (C) received higher grades than F in the Gap Closing category of the state’s new grading system. The Gap Closing category rates student success regardless of income, race, culture, or disability.
