RICHLAND/CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 3 announced the completion of a major Interstate 71 project is imminent, but warned drivers of continued long-term lane closures on State Route 13 in Richland County.

Richland County Projects

Interstate 71 Resurfacing The pavement repair project on I-71 northbound and southbound, stretching from the Ashland County line to State Route 39, is scheduled to wrap up by the end of November 2025. Crews will continue to implement intermittent lane closures to finalize the work, with traffic maintained in 11-foot lanes while crews are present.

State Route 13 Resurfacing Drivers should anticipate a significant, long-term impact on State Route 13 (SR 13) between Hanley Road and Chilton Avenue. The northbound and southbound passing lanes will be closed for roadway reconstruction and culvert work. Traffic will be maintained in 10-foot lanes in both directions. This project is estimated to be completed in May 2027.

U.S. Route 42 Signal Upgrades Traffic signal upgrades will take place along U.S. Route 42 at the intersections of Hanley Road, Kroger (Ashland Road), Stewart Road, and Eastview/Reiser Drive. When necessary, traffic will be maintained by daytime lane closures. The estimated completion for this work is April 2026.

Crawford County

ODOT reports that there are no active construction projects or road closures currently in Crawford County. Temporary, intermittent lane closures may be necessary for local maintenance crews to complete routine work, but these will only impact traffic during working hours.

ODOT reminds drivers that all work is weather permitting and subject to change. Motorists can find current travel updates at OHGO.com or by following ODOT District 3 on social media.
