RICHLAND COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced several construction projects affecting Richland County roadways, with work being weather-dependent and subject to change.
New Impacts
Effective Friday, Sept. 19, East Hanley Road at State Route 13 will be closed for 21 days for a resurfacing project. The detour for motorists on SR 13 heading to East Hanley Road is SR 13 to Possum Run Road, to Stander Avenue, to Washington Parkway, and then to Hanley Road. The reverse route should be used for East Hanley Road motorists trying to access SR 13. Access to West Hanley Road at SR 13 will remain open. This project has an estimated completion date of Friday, Oct. 10.
Continuing Impacts
Long-term lane closures will continue on State Route 13 northbound and southbound, from Hanley Road to Chilton Avenue, as part of a resurfacing project with an estimated completion date of May 2027.
The crossover access from east Straub Road to west Straub Road at the SR 13 intersection will remain closed for resurfacing work. The detour route for eastbound motorists is west Straub Road to South Main Street, to Hanley Road, to Woodville Road, and back to east Straub Road. The estimated completion date is Sunday, Sept. 21.
Signal upgrades are in progress along U.S. Route 42 at the intersections of Hanley Road, Kroger (Ashland Road), Stewart Road, and Eastview/Reiser Drive. These upgrades will cause daytime lane closures as needed, with an estimated completion in April 2026.
Finally, State Route 181, from the Crawford/Richland County line to SR 309, continues to have single-lane closures for a resurfacing project. The SR 181 section between Middletown Road and Horning Road is closed for pavement repairs with an estimated completion of Friday, Sept. 19.
