The North Central Electric Cooperative annual meeting and family fun day will be held Tuesday, June 9, at the Seneca County Fairgrounds in Tiffin.
This is the second year family fun day has been added to the cooperative’s annual meeting format. Children rides, bounce houses, magic shows and face painting will be featured from 1 to 5 p.m. New this year will be a Skydome Planetarium, which will allow children and adults to explore the solar system in an inflatable star-filled dome. There also will be wellness displays and member business displays. A free dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m.
The 79th annual business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature reports from North Central General Manager Markus Bryant, Board President Duane Frankart and People Fund Chairman Ellen Lynch.
The event is open to cooperative members and their families. Registration will open at 1 p.m. All children will be issued a wrist band upon registration in order to participate in youth activities.
Members will officially elect three members to serve three-year terms on the cooperative’s Board of Trustees. The three trustee candidates are running unopposed.
In District 1, Steve Seitz is completing his first year on the board. The Wyandot County Commissioner was appointed last year to fill the final year of an unexpired term. District 1 includes all of the Wyandot County townships served by North Central.
In District 2, Randy Armstrong of Holmes Township in Crawford County was appointed in March to fill the final months of Don Strausbaugh’s term. District 2 encompasses the cooperative’s service area in Crawford and Richland counties. Armstrong was the only candidate to file a nominating petition from District 1 so the remaining board members went ahead and appointed Armstrong.
District 5 is served by Ron Frisch of Eden Township in Seneca County. He has been on the board since 2007. District 5 includes Clinton, Eden and Pleasant townships in Seneca County.
Members no longer vote at the annual meeting. In 2012, the Code of Regulations was changed to permit mail and online voting. There is a provision in the code that states if none of the races are contested, no election is necessary and the three unopposed candidates will be deemed elected at the annual meeting.
North Central Electric serves approximately 9,600 consumers in Seneca, Crawford, Wyandot, Richland, Huron, Sandusky, Hancock and Wood counties.
