Traffic on the main thoroughfare through Bucyrus was rerouted for the second time in as many weeks Monday morning.

The Bucyrus Police Department blocked off South Sandusky Avenue from Charles Street to Liberty Street to handle a one-vehicle accident that occurred across from Bucyrus City Hall around 9:30 a.m.
According to Bucyrus police, a Norfolk Southern truck was traveling southbound when he went off the road in front of Tim Hortons. Tracks from the vehicle could be seen in the tree lawn, cutting between a utility pool and a fire hydrant, before the vehicle came to a stop beside a tree at an apartment complex. Part of the tree was sheared off from the impact, while the truck sustained significant damage to its front end and passenger side.
Police were unaware of the driver’s condition at the time, though he was transported to the hospital for possible injuries. A name was not released at the time. Carl’s Auto Sales and Service was called in to tow the vehicle from the scene. The Bucyrus Fire Department also assisted with the accident.
