It was not a day of second chances for three people in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Tuesday.

Twenty-two-year-old Samantha Smith of Bucyrus agreed to spend 60 days in jail in return for admitting to her community control violations. Smith, who had been on community control since March of 2013, admitted to testing positive for marijuana on Sept. 3; failing to report to her supervising officer as ordered on July 29; and changing her residence without her supervisor’s permission on July 28.

Smith waived her right to counsel and agreed to recommendation made by her parole officer. She will serve a 60-day jail sentence and will be terminated from probation unsuccessfully upon her release.

Tyler Nichols’ chance to avoid a felony conviction fell by the wayside Tuesday when he admitted to violating his intervention program. The 24-year-old Galion man had been placed on intervention in May after entering a guilty plea to drug possession. The guilty plea was to be held until Nichols’ successful completion of his intervention.

Nichols’ waived his right to counsel and admitted to being unsuccessfully discharged from New Beginnings Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services in Mansfield on Aug. 24. He also conceded that he had failed to report to his supervising officer as ordered on Sept. 2.

Nichols’ was found guilty of a fifth-degree felony drug possession and ordered to be placed on community control for five years. He must also undergo a drug and alcohol assessment and pay a $1,250 mandatory drug fine. Nichols’ driver’s license was suspended for six months.

Christina Hildreth agreed to be extradited to Texas. Hildreth has a warrant out of that state for credit card abuse.
