BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio State Highway Patrol is pleased to announce that Trooper Nicholas V. Hermann has been selected as the 2025 Bucyrus Post Trooper of the Year.

Trooper Hermann, 32, has been recognized for his outstanding service at the Bucyrus Highway Patrol Post. Fellow officers and dispatchers stationed at the Bucyrus Post chose Trooper Hermann for the award based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, job knowledge, performance, and exemplary service to the public. This is Trooper Hermann’s first time being awarded Trooper of the Year.

Trooper Hermann graduated from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy in November of 2023 as a member of the 172nd Academy Class and was assigned to the Bucyrus Post.

Trooper Hermann has been awarded the Health and Physical Fitness Ribbon with Star attachment for scoring in the highest level of physical fitness testing. He has also assisted the OSHP Academy training staff with self-defense training.

Trooper Hermann is originally from the Randolph area and currently resides in Wyandot County with his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Autumn. After graduating from Waterloo High School, he served five years in the United States Marine Corps and has three years prior law enforcement service. Trooper Hermann has been actively involved in the community by volunteering his time coaching high school wrestling at Upper Sandusky.
