Last week the Pickle Run Planning Committee announced another event for the Pickle Run festival’s lineup.

“The Galion Pickle Run is going to be an offical host of the NFL’s Punt, Pass & Kick,” the group’s Facebook page said.

Punt, Pass & Kick is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15 to compete separately against their peers. Visit the NFL’s website for more information.

It will be held on Saturday, July 4, from 12-2 p.m. at Unckrich Stadium in coordination with Galion Youth Football. This is a free event to all interested kids. If you have a child that is interested in competing, you can register online at www.nflppk.com.

Other Saturday events will include a 5K run, a teen dance at the pool and the return of crowd favorite “Anything Goes.”

The Pickle Run continues on Sunday, July 5, with events like a community church service, car show and parade. The festival will conclude with Galion’s annual fireworks show.

The committee is also accepting applications for interested vendors who would like to set up fundraising booths on Sunday.

“Any Galion area groups, organizations or businesses that are interested in being a part of the Pickle Run, we want to hear from you,” Committee member Sarah Capretta said.

The Pickle Run Planning Committee’s next meeting is April 23 at 6:30 p.m., at Galion Public Library. Anyone interested in helping with the festival is invited to attend.

“We’re really excited with the involvement so far,” Capretta said. “Thank you to all of the individuals who have volunteered their time to get this event going.”
