Joe Blum will remain as council president for the Village of New Washington for the 2015 year. He was unanimously elected to retain his post at Monday night’s meeting. The council committees will also remain unchanged from 2014.

Administrator Norm Lucius reported that the lights and decorations have been taken down from Christmas, and that the street department has been busy plowing snow. Lucius also noted that the ditch and bank on the south side of Bucyrus Street have been fixed.

Councilmen Forster and Agin complimented the street department on the quality of the snow removal efforts so far.

“I think the street department’s been doing a really good job,” Forster said.

Clerk Julie Cronau added that the property at 603 Scharf Street now officially belongs to the village, and requested that signage on the recently acquired property at Kibler and Mansfield streets be removed.

Council adjourned the meeting to executive session to consider the vacant position of police chief.
