The Crawford Park District is having a new event twice in the month of October it is calling the Family Survival Backpack Challenge.
The goal is to complete at least six challenges to get a prize. Some of the challenges consists of making a fishing pole, setting a trap with just rocks, sticks and rope, catch a frog, start a fire with flint and steel, and much more.
The first event is at noon this Sunday at Lowe-Volk Park. Registration is required and must be done by Friday.
The second offering of Family Survival Backpack Challenge is Oct. 24 and registration for that has a deadline of Oct. 23.
