BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The owner of a new mental health practice in town is passionate about helping her clients find healing – and hope.
Jacqui Carver, a licensed mental health therapist, is the owner of J.C. Wellness Solutions, LLC, 201 W. Charles Street, Suite B. Even her business logo includes the phrase “Where Hope Rises.”
“When clients improve, meet their goals, they tell me they have hope again, and that’s really my hope for the people I work with,” said Carver, “getting that hope and strength again so that they can move forward.”
The private practice, which opened in February, provides counseling services for individuals, couples, and groups adjusting to life’s challenges. Both in-person and telehealth options are available.
People suffering from anxiety and depression make up a large part of the practice, Carver said, while many other clients are coping with trauma, PTSD, grief, stress, and relationship issues.
“A lot of people suffer from anxiety,” Carver said. “Anxiety can be really intense. It can affect your social life, your home life, your performance at work, and if that happens depression can sink in as well.”
Carver said she uses intervention and various therapeutic approaches, including mindfulness techniques and motivational interviewing. All sessions, she said, are approached with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.
Carver, a native of New Washington, has 15 years’ experience as a mental health therapist. She worked for a mental health and addiction services agency in Mentor, Ohio, and for seven years at Community Counseling Services in Bucyrus.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Ohio State University and in 2010 obtained a Master of Social Work degree, also from O.S.U. “I’ve always had an interest in the brain, and what it does.”
At first, she said her focus was treating patients with Schizophrenia and other severe mental disorders, as well as trauma patients. She even developed a therapy group for victims of domestic violence and other forms of abuse.
“Trauma also comes in a lot of other forms as well, complex PTSD and emotional neglect and abuse, plus the effects of being bullied,” Carver said. “It’s something that really leaves an imprint and stays with a person.”
Carver said starting J.C. Wellness Solutions has allowed her to utilize skills in both direct practice and program development. “That’s always been my passion. Working with the clients and doing this, I can combine both of those.”
The practice, she said, is excited to be launching a book club starting in June. The “Mindful Moments Book Club” will focus on self-care, emotional well-being, and personal growth starting June 11 at 6 p.m. at the office.
