NORTH ROBINSON—On Monday evening, the Colonel Crawford Board of Education held their monthly meeting.

At this point, Colonel Crawford has used seven calamity days, with days six and seven being used as blizzard bags. With the incoming snow in mind, should the school close Thursday and Friday, Thursday’s calamity day would be the last blizzard bag for the year, and Friday would result in a makeup day on President’s Day on February 21.

At the meeting, two representatives from MG Energy spoke to the board about the renovation project for the boiler and the air handling unit in the North building.

There will be a roof access to drop the equipment into the school because the current equipment was put in “before the roof was put on the school.” With the new equipment, there will be at least a thirty percent savings on gas, and the school will qualify for a Columbia Gas rebate.

The new equipment will be set up to heat the school’s pool if the current heater goes out.

With how supplies are backed up right, it will be approximately eight to ten weeks until boilers come in and at least twenty weeks until air handlers can come in. They are hoping the project will begin before the end of the school year, getting things ready, with maybe a little tail-end work being done after school resumes again. The project is projected to take four months. With federal money, the school has roughly five hundred and eighty thousand dollars to put towards the project.

The project will go out to bid within the next few weeks.

The purchase of a seventy-two-passenger conventional school bus was approved at the cost of ninety-six thousand, seven hundred and forty dollars. Forty-five thousand dollars of the eligible grant money will be put towards the purchase of the bus.

Bricker & Eckler, with offices in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Marietta, Barnesville, and Lebanon, was approved as the school’s legal counsel for 2022.

The board approved the school as the host site for the NW District Track meet on May 18 and 20.

The next board meeting is on February 28 at 7 p.m.
