The six Crawford County school districts will all have at least one new member for their respective boards of education.
In Bucyrus Bradley Murtiff was the lone candidate running for two open seats. Galion also had two open seats and those likewise went to the only two candidates on Tuesday’s ballot, incumbent Jennifer Kuns and newcomer Heath Watkins. Nearly the same situation took place at Wynford where three seats were open with two going to incumbents Steve Crall and Debra Gifford who won re-election and the third to newcomer Fred Hendricks. There were no other candidates on the Wynford ballot.
Three newcomers were elected to the school board at Buckeye Central. Steve Aicholz, Elizabeth Diesch and Chris Martin won in a four-person race. Incumbent Bernie Kessler was not re-elected.
Former school secretary Margaret Hoyles won her first term on that school board with five candidates vying for three seats. The other two seats went to incumbents Timothy Ley and Shane Stuckman. Mike Tinkey was not re-elected and Chad Slagle failed in his first try to get on the board.
In Crestline Robyn Almanson won a term on the board there at the expense of incumbent Barb Poole. Robert Salvati and Jeff Wilhite were successful in their bids to retain their seats. James Glauer was not elected in his second try.
Vote totals for all the school board races can be found on the Election page.
