BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Since taking on her new role in June 2025, Victoria Caldwell, the first Executive Director of Crawford County Mentors, has been reaching out to local organizations to spread a key message: when adults mentor young people, the entire community benefits.
The Crawford County Mentors program was founded by friends Matt Crall and Jamey Gregory in 2022 and officially launched in May 2025. It gained momentum with support from the Crawford-Marion ADAMH Board, The Community Foundation for Crawford County, and The Galion Community Foundation.
The program connects dependable adult volunteers with students in grades 6–12. The time commitment is small—just four hours a month for one year—but the organization notes that the impact can last a lifetime. Mentors and mentees meet in a variety of safe, welcoming settings, including after school, on weekends, or even during the school day.
The program also includes special events, such as a Kickoff Event, quarterly activities, and an Annual Dinner to celebrate mentor and mentee successes.
Community members interested in learning more are invited to attend one of two upcoming informational meetings:
- Sept. 16: Bucyrus Public Library, 7–8 p.m.
- Sept. 18: Galion YMCA, 7–8 p.m.
