Park District new maintenance building 2014 (1)Since maintenance and storage space is very limited at Lowe-Volk Park, the Commissioners embarked upon a plan to construct a new building which would meet current and projected needs. Bids for a 56’ X 32’ pole building were announced in February of this year with nine businesses answering the call. At the March 20 board meeting, the Board of Commissioners accepted the bid from Picou Building and Remodeling, LLC, of Bucyrus. Construction began in early June and has progressed through the summer.

As of this printing, the roof and siding have now been completed with most of the interior work remaining to be accomplished. Above the maintenance shop, an enclosed storage loft will provide a place to store displays that can be rotated in and out of the Nature Center. It will also provide a place to store our growing collection of program materials.
