While the Central Joint Ambulance District did not vote Monday night on the final version of the ambulance service contract that will be up for bid, board members did approve some items that will go into the contract.
Sandusky Township representative Jason Long presented an updated draft of the ambulance service contract. Long explained that he cross-checked the bid packet with the contract so that the CJAD could reduce the documents in the bid packet down to two.
After the presentation board members voted that the length of the contract remain at three years with an automatic renewal option. The board also included a provision that the ambulance service provider must have a minimum of three ambulance units with at least two ambulance units in the district available for 9-1-1 service at all times.
The percentage of runs without a variance was increased from 90 percent to 95 percent. Board members also voted that the ambulances used pass a yearly inspection from a qualified inspector. Age of the ambulance will no longer be the sole criteria.
Long is set to meet with a representative of the fire chiefs within the Ambulance District to discuss more potential additions or changes to the ambulance service contract.
The next CJAD meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on May 20 at the Sheriff’s Office.
