One way to beat the winter blues is to get busy getting ready for spring and that’s exactly what dominated the agenda for Monday’s Nevada Village Council meeting.

Mayor Ken Kerr discussed the recent 5K run that was part of Wynford student Samantha Lambert’s senior project.

“We had a 5K race that was actually done by one of the residents in town, Samantha Lambert. It was her senior project,” Lambert said. “She had about 44 people show up and she wants all the proceeds to go towards a handicapped swing for the park, she is planning on doing this as a yearly thing, which I think is a fantastic thing to do.”

The run raised $400.

Also discussed by council members were fixing some potholes on village streets.

“We have some money set aside to get that fixed as soon as the snow goes away along with getting some tools for the village so we have that on hand,” Kerr said.

The village’s Annual Spring Egg Hunt is scheduled for the second weekend in April. The Wyandot East Fire Department and its Women’s Auxiliary will host a spaghetti dinner on March 28.The future of youth baseball in Nevada will be discussed at the next council meeting.
