The Nevada Village Council made it clear at its meeting Monday that children out roaming village streets at night is not a situation that will continue.
Village Council members passed an ordinance setting the village curfew at 10 p.m. Council member Jeffrey Kindler explains why council chose to take that step.
“Yes we need the curfew because there is a lot of vandalism in this town and I’m not saying it’s from the kids in this town, it could be somebody from out of town but you know there is a lot of damage and the parents need to get their kids under control and it’s just going crazy.”
A report from the Wyandot East Fire Department indicated it would not place a renewal levy on November’s ballot. The fire department will host its annual Halloween party on Oct. 25 following the village’s trick-or-treat. Village residents are reminded to leave their porch lights on for the trick-or-treaters if it is their intention to hand out candy.
Pavilions at the Nevada Park are being painted by volunteers and the village is preparing to winterize that location.
