Nevada Village Council members may not pick up any tools when it comes to rebuilding the Mennco grain facility, but they are doing their part in the project.

At Monday’s meeting council members approved necessary permits for the company to move ahead with replacing the 130-foot tower destroyed in a fire.

“Also, they are putting in a new load bin on the south side of the bins to get their grain a little faster, so they have people uploading and loading at the same time so they can increase the amount that they do,” Mayor Ken Kerr said. “With that came some issues with the water line and things beside them in an ally and I think we feel a lot better after talking to them about how it’s going to go.”

The house at 103 South Garrett is scheduled for demolition. The village will clean up the yard prior to demolition. The county will sell the property and use the funds to pay back taxes and other obligations.

Village Council is asking for estimates to install a security system for video surveillance. Inquiries may be mailed to the Village Office.
