BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus Neighborhood Churches hosted their yearly vacation Bible school from July 28 through Aug. 1.
The churches participating were Bucyrus United Methodist, Good Hope Lutheran, First Presbyterian, St. John’s UCC and St. Paul’s Lutheran.
The theme was “Power Up,” and 54 kids were a part of the event along with many adult and teen volunteers from all the churches and other friends.
Each night, the kids collected an offering to be given to the Bucyrus Backpack Program. They exceeded expectations and collected $700. Virginia Hammontree, a representative from the backpack program, said the money may feed as many as 2,000 people this fall.
