Taxpayers paying second half real estate taxes in the County Treasurer’s office will have to contend with the Crawford Connection construction project. Spaces will be available north of the railroad tracks and along the south side of the tracks, east of the construction. Limited parking on the north side of the Crawford County Administration building will be available for taxpayer parking June 15 – 22. You may also park near the square in normal street parking spaces.
To avoid the parking problems, taxpayers may also pay at any United Bank or First Federal Community Bank in Crawford County until June 22. If paying at one of these bank offices, taxpayers must bring their second half tax statements.
In addition to using a credit card in the Treasurer’s office, taxpayers may also pay using their home phone (1-855-825-0556) and the internet. Please go the County Treasurer’s web page at www.crawford-co.org for further information and directions.
Taxpayers on a payment plan for delinquent taxes must complete required payments by June 22 to prevent possible legal action.
Any taxpayer interested in starting a pre-pay plan or automatic bank payments should contact the Treasurer’s office as soon as possible. The payments for next years’ taxes on these plans will begin in July. Next year’s pre-pay coupon books will be available after the second half taxes are paid.
Many Crawford County property owners will have their taxes paid through mortgage payments and will not receive a bill unless it is requested. Otherwise, each landowner should have received a bill in the mail. If taxpayers have not received a second half tax bill, they should contact the County Treasurer’s Office at 562-7861 or 1-800-589-5744 or email at treasurer@crawford-co.org. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weekdays.
Payments must be made by June 22 to avoid a 10 percent penalty.
