Mansfield, OH – Dorey Diab, president of North Central State College recently recognized the following staff members for outstanding service to North Central State College, the students we serve, and the community.
Outstanding Staff Member of the Year: Kim Washington, Director of the Child Development Center
Kim began working as an Early Childhood Specialist with the center in 1999. She has shown an outstanding commitment to her work, to her colleagues, and to the college.
Others receiving recognition:
Mark Hupp received the Pushing the Envelope award for his innovative work on our ever growing web presence, for his development of the Image Bank, and for his development of the “Square One” interactive tool for student career exploration.
Lynn Jones & Heather Tsavaris received Pushing the Envelope awards for their teamwork in delivering the Entrepreneur Certificate at the Urban Center. Heather and Lynn are a great team in providing education, motivation, and implementation while removing barriers to advance entrepreneurship and create jobs in our region.
Brad Wood received an On the Cutting Edge award for fearlessly incorporated technology in the classroom through the introduction of cutting edge technology employing a clicker student response system that utilizes each student’s individual cell phone and converts it into a clicker mechanism. Thus having his students become part of the exploration and implementation process.
Deb Huguenin received the Excellence in Service to Students award. Deb is usually the first person a prospective student meets when they come to the Welcome Desk. Her positive attitude and demand for the highest level of quality service to our students casts a lasting impression on the student and consistently portrays a positive image for the College.
Deb Hysell received the Excellence in Service to the College for her work as a “Champion” of our development of an International Student program. She takes her relationship with these students to a personal level, attending to their special needs and easing their transition to our College and to our Country.
Michele Schaad received the Excellence in Service to the College. Michele oversees many of the accounting systems that largely take place behind the scenes including student accounts, the foundation accounts, and grants management. Although short staffed, Michele goes above and beyond to ensure effective accounts management and reporting requirements.
Sam Renfroe received the Excellence in Service to the College for his pursuit of grant opportunities that help to further the College’s mission of Access, Success, and Resources. Most recently, he helped in bringing more than $3 million in grants, including the Department of Labor’s TAACCT grant.
Dave Cardwell received a Presidential Recognition Award for his efforts to help Dr. Diab connect with area superintendents. He has developed a core group of superintendents and worked with them to establish 18 Memorandums of Understanding for dual-enrollment with those school districts, which resulted in a 16% increase in this category.
The Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Team received Presidential Recognition Awards for their hard work, commitment, team work and innovation in their efforts to provide access to students and raise the educational attainment of our community. Members of the team include: Sara Au, Gregg Busch, Dave Cardwell, Cheryl Carter, Michael Cole, Barb Keener, Jim Phinney, Tom Prendergast, Margaret Puckett, Michelle Slattery, Keith Stoner, and Bev Walker.
