The next National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for Oct. 26 and once again there will be two collection locations in Crawford County.
Operation Medicine Cabinet and other collection programs protect children, water and food supplies. Safely getting rid of unwanted and unused prescription drugs also helps decrease drug abuse. This is a completely confidential program and no personal information will be collected.
Those dropping off medications are asked to remove all prescription labels before arriving. Items that will be accepted include prescription medications of any knd; over-the-counter medications; medication samples; pet medications; vitamins and inhalers; medicated ointments and lotions; and liquid medications in leak-proof containers.
The following items will not be accepted: needles, syringes and lancets; thermometers and aerosol cans; IV bags and hydrogen peroxide; bloody or infectious waste; empty containers; personal products such as non-medicated shampoo.
Two drop-off locations will be open in Crawford County from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day. They are the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office on Stetzer Road in Bucyrus using the east entrance and the Galion Community Hospital at the lobby entrance.
