The Bucyrus and Galion Police Departments, along with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, are participating in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.
In Bucyrus, residents can drop off their unwanted prescription pills of any kind, over-the-counter medications, medication samples, pet medication and vitamins. The Bucyrus Police Department is located inside the Bucyrus City Hall at 500 S. Sandusky Ave.
People in the Galion area can drop off their unwanted medications at the Galion Public Library, 123 N. Market St. or at the Galion Police Department in the main lobby at the Galion Municipal Building that is open daily throughout the year.
Residents throughout the county can head to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, 3613 Stetzer Road, Bucyrus, as a drop-off site will be set up in the lobby area.
Before you drop off any products, remove all prescription labels.
Items that will NOT be collected include needles, syringes, lancets, thermometers, aerosol cans, IV bags, hydrogen peroxide, bloody or infectious waste, empty containers, personal products such as non-medicated shampoo, etc.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is held each year in cooperation with Operation Medicine Cabinet. Operation Medicine Cabinet and other collection programs to protect children, water and food supplies, and decrease prescription drug abuse by making it easier for area residents to properly dispose of unused or expired medication.
This program is completely confidential and no personal information will be collected.
