BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—On Thursday, various services across the country, including mail delivery by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), will be paused in observance of the National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter, who is remembered as the longest-living American president.

In an announcement on its website, the USPS confirmed that all post offices will be closed, and regular mail delivery will not occur on January 9. However, there will be “limited package delivery service” available on that day. Normal operations are expected to resume on Friday.

The National Day of Mourning provides an opportunity for individuals to pay their respects to President Carter, who passed away recently. In accordance with federal law, President Joe Biden formally declared this day as a National Day of Mourning.
