BUCYRUS—Three Crestline defendants charged in the murder of Michael “Mikey” Benedict waived their right to a speedy trial.

Jacqueline Montgomery, Timothy Montgomery, and Cameron Davis stand accused of Benedict’s murder. According to allegations, the three viciously beat Benedict after an incident in the Just Jokin’ Bar in Crestline in October. The three were originally charged with felonious assault, and after Benedict succumbed to his injuries, the charges were advanced to murder.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold accepted each of the three defendants’ waivers to a speedy trial.

Every defendant has a constitutional right to a trial within a specified time. If a defendant is not in jail while awaiting trial, they have up to 270 days to go to trial.

Davis and the Montgomerys have been incarcerated, so they are afforded the right to a trial within 90 days.

All three defendants waived their right to a speedy trial.

At the conclusion of the hearing, Judge Leüthold ordered the matter set for another Pretrial, at which time a trial date will be determined.

Crawford County Now will continue to follow this developing story.
