GALION — A fire occurred in a multiple dwelling home at 142 N. Union Street around 4 p.m. on June 24. According to the Galion Fire Department, the dwelling consisted of four apartment units with three tenants living there.
The Galion Fire Department reported to the scene and found the fire appeared to be started in a rear exterior entryway. When arriving to the scene, all tenants were already out of the building and safe.
According to GFD Lt. Mike Saurers, the fire was extinguished before it was able to progress to the interior structure itself.
Saurers reported that the rear exterior entryway was completely burned off and the interior structure had some smoke damage. The cause of the fire currently is unknown and under investigation.
The American Red Cross responded to the scene, as well, to care for any tenants in need of medical assistance. There were, however, no serious injuries.
